Behind the Scenes at Quiet Elegance Woodturning
David Schneider is a Woodturner and Teacher with varied interests. In his business he turns a wide variety of products. He is well known for his unique birdhouses that range in size from miniatures no bigger than a dime, to Christmas Tree ornament birdhouses, to full size, fully functional birdhouses created for any type (size) of bird. His other work covers a wide spectrum of woodturning.
- Wall Platters, Wall Sculptures and Wall Hangings
- Custom made pens and pencils from exotic woods and Old World Materials
- Lace Bobbins that are used in the creation of English and Irish Lace.
- Fully functional wooden bowls for kitchen use (individual salad bowls to large serving bowls over 24 inches in diameter).
- Southwestern style vessels emulating Native American Hopi and Pueblo Pottery.
- Native American Flutes in many keys.
- Duck and Goose Calls.
- Many other various art objects that are displayed and sold throughout the USA.
Most of his products are made of local hardwoods that he has harvested, although he does use a small amount of exotic woods from managed care forests for special orders or projects. He also does custom work and "One of a Kind" pieces. If a person has a special request, David will be happy to give them an estimate on cost and time to complete.
All of his work is hand done on a lathe, therefore no two pieces are exactly alike. There is much attention to design and workmanship. Hopefully these pieces will be passed down to future generations.
David also offers classes in beginning and intermediate woodturning to individuals or small groups (3 or less). Class size is limited so that each individual will get the maximum attention and instruction possible.
